Palminder and Taran
The warm décor and wooden Palki in Brent Sikh Centre’s Diwan Hall made the perfect palette for this stunning Anand Karaj ceremony.
The beautiful message in Gurmukhi embroidered on the chanani is reads “sub tai vada satiguru nanak Jin kal Rakhi mery” (“He who is top of everything will protect me”) illuminated with fairy lights. I enjoyed painting the declining floral pattern over rumalla to create a sense of depth.
Some artistic license was agreed to include the ek onkar and khanda symbols in the composition, plus the beautiful florals, which we’re really on the Palki but were obscured here by the bride and groom. I also enlarged the family portraits hanging from Palminder’s kaleera, so they were visible in the painting.
This is why a painting is so special, the scene I can create for you is only bound by your imagination. I offer a full consultation to discuss what’s important to you to include in your artwork.
