About me
Hi, I’m Emily, a practicing artist based in south east Essex, UK. After gaining a BA(Hons) degree in Fine Art at De Montfort University, I have sold my paintings through London-based galleries and at art fairs. I later obtained a postgraduate qualification and taught art to all ages in schools and to adults at evening classes, which has enabled me to share my love of painting with others and pass on the skills I’ve developed over the years.
I’ve always loved painting people and trying to convey their personality in a likeness. At De Montfort I practiced a more Abstract Expressionist style of painting, exploring the possibilities of shape and colour. Teaching required me to broaden my repertoire of subject matter and technique, which has helped me to develop a well-rounded style that can be applied to landscapes as well as figures; just what's needed for painting celebrations!
