This painting portrays a serene Anand Karaj ceremony at Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Southall. The couple chose the largest canvas size (20”x30”), which gave me the space to capture a high level of detail in the Gurdwara’s iconic stained glass window and the couple’s intricately embroidered attire.

A combination of techniques brings depth and texture to the scene: impasto layering for the gold dome and Amandip’s bridal lehenga, contrasted with softer, translucent washes to capture the play of coloured light cast across the floor from the window.
