Menisha and Parvinder
Menisha and Parvinder’s Anand Karaj ceremony was at Shri Guru Ravidass Bhawan Gurdwara in Birmingham.
The setting was beautiful, with royal blue and gold drapery behind the grand golden Palki housing the Guru Granth Sahib. I enjoyed playing with the paint to create the flow of the drapery, which offsets the robust structure of the gold chanani and dome. We went for an elegant earthy palette which tied the whole scene together.
Menisha looked incredible in green with maroon, adorned with intricate embroidery and chiffon — such a joy to paint all those textures. Parvinder’s burgundy turban and dupatta complemented this perfectly, paired with an ivory sherwani and gold detailing.
The palla (physically connecting them to symbolise their union) is a rose-chain, a quiet tribute to the groom’s late mother, roses being her favourite flower. Above them, I layered paint to create a soft, ethereal cloud-like effect to add a sense of spirituality to the scene.
