Kimran and Balwant
A spiritual scene painted for their Anand Karaj at New Medway Towns Gurdwara Sabha.
Symbolism runs through this portrait, in the union of marriage, the Khana and Ek Onkar and the two butterflies. Kimran had asked her late grandparents to visit her as butterflies on her wedding day and someone had indeed spotted the likes of which, so it was rightly decided these should be added to the the portrait. Enhancing the light that flooded in through the window of the Diwan Hall, I feel also added to the spirituality of the scene.
With painting, you’re only limited by your imagination and adding extra special elements like this is what makes your portrait so unique to you. I want to give you something you can cherish, tell stories about and to remember your wedding day whenever you look at it.
