Dammy and Mat
Dammy and Mat’s stunning wedding ceremony at St. Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge —one of London’s most beautiful Victorian church buildings.
Consecrated in 1843, this elaborate and highly decorated building, rich in Christian imagery, sought to restore a sense of Catholic order and spirituality to the Established Church. I wanted to include as much as I could of this, namely the stained glass window bookended by angels, the symbolic arches and the statues of the saints with the crucified Jesus and of St Paul above the lectern.
I was invited to paint as a wedding gift from a very generous bridesmaid and dear friend of the couple. After the ceremony we all hopped on their vintage Routemaster buses to the Royal Exchange to continue the celebrations at the Banking Hall, where I continued to paint through the cocktail hour and evening reception.
