Jenna and Nick

Jenna & Nick’s beautiful hand-tying marriage ceremony at Brighton’s Fabrica Gallery.

Jenna’s a gifted musician & performed her own song during the wedding reception, with her father, whose band Burning Organ, provided the main entertainment - apart from yours truly of course! Therefore I made sure I painted their respective guitars, plus the magnificent drum kit, into the composition.

While I never intend my paintings to look like a photograph (we have photography for that, right?) I do strive for a likeness when painting figures, to make the painting unique to my clients.

I also try to add personal touches that wouldn’t be in their photos and feel that these little details makes painting special. For example, I painted a portrait picture on the right hand wall of the stage, next to the bass guitar, inspired by one of the artworks from Nick’s late sister’s degree show. I know it meant a lot to him to have a part of her included in the painting.
