Gurdeep and Pardeep

Both versions of this beautiful Anand Karaj ceremony I was asked to paint live for Gurdeep and Pardeep, and replicate for Gurdeep’s grandparents.

The prayer room at Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple in Coventry has a majestic gold wall, bordered by brick columns and adorned with inscriptions in Punjabi. Housing portraits, shrines and time-pieces, it was a striking backdrop for this wonderful Anand Karaj wedding ceremony.

I kept in touch with Gurdeep while I was completing both painting and its copy in the studio and I’m grateful for her guidance with the scripture on the wall, to ensure the characters read correctly! Her dress had exquisite detail and I loved recreating the embroidered peacocks and floral motifs.
